Vineyards : 16,5 hectares ( 41,35 acres ) of soils of medium grain with good levels of marl dating from the Eocene period. The altitude of the vineyards varies from 240 to 360 metres above sea level. From these vineyards we select the best grapes for the production of our Brunello di Montalcino. Grape varietal : 100% Sangiovese Grosso. Fermentation and refinement: in steinless steel and glass concrete vats with temperature controlled trough cooling plates. Ageing : roughly three years in 20-85 hl Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a 4 month period of bottle ageing. Bottles produced: 39.000 approximately, with an anti-counterfeiting hologram on the capsule. Colour: ruby red verging towards garnet. Organoleptic characteristics: (14% vol.) the bouquet is intense, fruit-forward, spicy and floral with hints of blueberries, raspberries, cherries, sweet tobacco and slight violet. Warm, soft and very balanced on the palate, structured with soft tannins and long aftertaste. A great wine surpassing expectations after the difficult vintage. The property has preferred to renounce to the famous placename “Vigna di Pianrosso” to have the chance to select the best grapes coming from all the Brunello vineyards and not only from Pianrosso. This choice together with the reduced quantity of grapes harvested are intended to maintain the well known high quality of Brunello. This is the new “dress” of our Brunello “Vintage”. Service : open an hour before pouring and serve at 18°C (64,4° F) in large crystal wine glasses. Bottles should be kept in a horizontal position, far from light sources and protected from both extremes and changes in temperature. Food pairings : Roasted meat, game and mature cheese.
